I had a pretty eventful weekend. Friday night was Van Halen in Atlantic City, so I worked until 1:00 on Friday, then went immediately to the grocery store to stock up for Aunt Peg, who thankfully agreed to spend the night with the kiddos (after spending all week with them, mind you, while Neal did his residency). I got the G-man some milk, strawberries, rasberries, bananas, grapes, and cheesy poofs. Man, he loves him some cheesy poofs. We hit the road close to 4:00 and ran into some traffic on the rainy I-295. By the time we pulled into the Tropicana it was already close to 6:00. We spotted Nicky walking in the parking garage and picked him up to go grab a bite to eat with Scott and The Nucc. We had a few drinks at the hotel and then walked the two blocks to Boardwalk Hall.

The show was awesome. Our seats were awesome and Eddie was sober and wearing his wedding ring, which was awesome. Neal got annihilated and nearly rocked himself right over the Section-219 banister. He played the fretboard of my inner arm with diligence and imbibed passion.

We went back to the hotel afterward and had a few more drinks, some pizza and fries. I fell asleep on Kevin & Jen’s bed, then woke up ready to party down at the Borgata. We drove there and it was Neal’s turn to pass out. I got all salty and begged Scott & Nucc to go downstairs and gamble with me. We milled around the casino for about a half hour before feeling fatigue set in, so we retreated to our smokers room. Neal was out cold, so I took off his shoes and jeans. He yelled at me to leave him alone, then proceeded to lay across the width of the double bed and snore to wake the dead. I silently put a hex on him and grimaced myself to sleep.

Saturday morning we drove home and got ready for another action-packed day. Neal went to Ernie’s to record all day and I ran errands with the kiddos. After a few hours it was time to go pick up Neal and head to a friend’s 40th birthday party. We fraternized for a couple hours, and were home in time to get the G-man to bed shortly after his normal time. That’s when I realized the next day was Mother’s Day and we were hosting brunch with my family. At 9:30 on Saturday evening, I found myself grocery shopping once again. I think it was close to midnight by the time I fell asleep.

The alarm went off at 6:00 am. Neal and I got ready for the Race For The Cure 5k run in Philly. The Irminator showed up at 7:00 and watched the kiddos for us.

We pulled into Philly around 7:40. It was hectic finding parking. Once we did, we had to walk about a mile to the art museum and then had trouble figuring out where to go. They had changed the course from the last time we ran it (12 years ago) so we couldn’t figure out where to register or line up. The race was due to start at 8:00 and we finally located walk-up registration at 7:55. You would think it would be more clearly marked or obvious with the crowds and announcements, but it was all a little crazy. At last we found a big gathering of people with racing numbers standing on the parkway and we were like “Cool!” Then we looked over everyone’s heads about a mile up the road and saw a bunch of people running and we were like, “Crap!” We realized we were standing at the very back of the walkers. So we moved to the outside and started running to catch up with the first wave that had started about 10 minutes beforehand. After about a mile, we finally outran all the walkers and found ourselves at the back of the running pack. Nearly the entire first 2 miles of the race was all uphill, so it was a little challenging, but the weather was absolutely perfect for running and since we’ve both been training pretty regularly, we felt really good. And Neal ran with my pink backpack on and carrying my big pink water jug in his hand the entire time. The last mile was all downhill, which was nice, and we both finished in about 35 minutes, which was good considering we started 10 minutes late and had to catch up while running uphill the whole time. We were pretty pleased with our times. All in all, it was fun… a little stressful… and we didn’t even hang around to enjoy the festivities. We literally showed up, ran, and drove home. We had to get back to shower, clean the house and start cooking.

It was definitely the whirlwind weekend… but what else is new?
